THE CAMPAIGN

The mission of the National Coast Guard Museum Association is to educate the public about the evolution of the maritime and military history of the Coast Guard and its contributions to America by delivering a world-class museum with robust programming. The Museum Association will achieve this through the When the Most is Expected Capital Campaign, a public and private partnership to raise $150 Million. To date, over $136 million has been committed toward our goal.

$50M in private donations to build the museum

$80M committed to the Coast Guard from the Federal Government to design and construct museum exhibits and interior programming

$20M from the State of Connecticut to coordinate concurrent construction of a pedestrian access walkway to the Museum and neighboring facilities

5 DECKS: THOUSANDS OF STORIES

STEM DISCOVERY CENTER: As a hub of experiential learning, the National Coast Guard Museum will inspire curiosity, stimulate young minds, and motivate the next generation to consider careers in STEM and the Coast Guard. STEM programs will expand on traditional classroom learning with experiences tied to actual Coast Guard missions that will inspire students and adults. The Center will include: simulation and virtual reality, real Coast Guard scenarios, and a briefing theater. The Museum Events Center will also be on the top deck with dramatic views of the waterfront.

A MULTI-MISSION FORCE AROUND THE GLOBE: Interactive galleries, exhibits, and programming will bring to life the stories and missions of the Coast Guard. Its remarkable history will be honored through five story lines: Defenders of our Nation, Enforcers on the Seas, Lifesavers Around the Globe, Champions of Commerce, and Protectors of the Environment.

Over 200 galleries and exhibits will engage visitors to learn about the multi-mission Coast Guard and its 230-year history while addressing the complex present and challenging future. The Museum will place the visitor in the shoes of Coast Guard men and women, offering opportunities to solve problems, learn skills, and interact with members of the Service.

STORIES THAT MATTER: Stories will captivate visitors from the heritage of the Coast Guard’s predecessor Services, the role the Service has played in every major conflict since its founding, and instances of shipmates displaying the core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty.

QUOTES

— ADM Linda Fagan, Commandant of the United States Coast Guard
There’s no better way for us to share that sense of values, that sense of purpose, than through the stories that this museum will help us tell.
— ADM Linda Fagan, Commandant of the United States Coast Guard
This project will not only create hundreds of jobs and annually pump millions into the local economy, but also inspire the next generation to serve. The Coast Guard is the only long-standing branch of the armed services without a national museum.
— Chris Murphy, U.S. Senator (D-CT)
Our family is proud to contribute to this important national project and recognizing our father, J.D. Power III, is a real honor.
— Susan J. Curtin, National Coast Guard Museum Association Chair
I am proud to work on a project which will tell the Coast Guard story and recognize the sacrifice and impact of the men and women who selflessly serve our Nation.
— CAPT Raymond Wes Pulver, USCG (Ret.), National Coast Guard Museum Association President
This is going to be the crowning jewel of the revitalization of this great seaport city.
